About the EVE Business and Leadership Coach

Dr. Anita Davis-DeFoe, a member of the International Coaching Federation, possesses an earned doctorate in management, with a concentrated focus in human and organizational development. She has over 20 years of experience formulating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating business, governmental, human services, educational and economic development programs for a wide range of organizations in the United States, Africa and the Caribbean. She is a leadership strategist and organizational business thought coach.

Dr. DeFoe, a Senior Quality Management Examiner, has conducted organizational assessments; developed and implemented quality improvement programs, strategic plans to identify organizational priorities, programmatic process tracking systems, conducted myriad stakeholder and customer surveys, topical focus groups; and provided technical assistance to organizations in both individual and group settings. She has extensive experience providing technical assistance to organizations in the areas of team building; process and change management; training; fund development; as well as the diagnosis and resolution of operational, service delivery and programmatic challenges.

Modeling visionary leadership, Anita has designed and delivered management training programs for diverse audiences around the globe to include entrepreneurs, government officials; faith and community based organizational staff and leadership; public school staff; venture capitalists; corporate executives; educators; quality and process managers; media specialists; workforce, human and economic development professionals. She has taught leadership and organizational development courses on the university level, and possesses significant experience and demonstrated expertise in entrepreneurship and program development.

Dr. DeFoe has elevated the performance of organizations on the state, national and international levels through the design and delivery of insightful seminars on strategic planning and business start-up, performance and quality management, leadership development, effective human capital utilization and process improvement. She has taught Organization Development, Principles of Systems, Leadership, Performance Management and Strategic Planning courses on the university level in the United States and the Caribbean.

She is the author of several books for women, and she is currently working on a leadership book for women (Follow Her Lead: Unleashing the Greatness Within… Leadership Lessons for Women as They Journey from the Backroom to the Boardroom) due out in December.

Dr. DeFoe has assembled a stellar team of career, personal development and business coaches from across the Caribbean Diaspora. Together, this team will share insights, strategies, tools and action steps every woman and girl can take to fully manifest her destiny, learn how to respect her life and potential, as well as how to approach life planning in spite of inevitable life challenges. Call for presentations and speakers will be disseminated to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), women’s groups and myriad organizations that provide services to women and girls. From this group, additional individuals will be selected to conduct both product and informational sessions for expo visitors.

The Event

In March 2009, Kingston Jamaica will serve as the backdrop for an event unlike any ever seen in the Caribbean. Eve Jamaica: Celebrating the Leadership and Brilliance of Women All Around the Globe promises to be a weekend which celebrates, champions and challenges women and girls from across Jamaica and moreover the Caribbean.

The advancement of women has become a global imperative, and development organizations world-wide are searching for strategies to uplift women and girls from all sectors of society, in all areas of their lives. Women are the cornerstones of any society and of every nation, and the strengthening of women in all spheres of their lives, such as career, family, personal, social, physical, mental, and financial serves to boast the multiplier effect for any nation.

This event which will offer a wide range of topical seminars addressing the issues of keen importance to women and girls; provide numerous product and wellness demonstrations, provide businesses with an opportunity to display their services and products, but most of all, this event will celebrate the brilliance of women, their emerging role as leaders, as well as showcase opportunities and strategies which can improve the quality of their lives.

At all of the sessions, an eclectic mix of inspirational, personal development and business thought facilitators will share messages of hope and possibility, provide life enhancement tools, and offer simple action steps that can be immediately integrated in a woman’s life. The fundamental objective of the EVE Jamaica event is to expand the personal vision, goal setting, resiliency, capacity and career aspirations of women and girls, so that they are better able to motivate not only themselves, but their families, within organizations, and for the country as a whole. Sustainable development on all levels first commences with the expansion of competency on the individual level, therefore by equipping women to view themselves as catalyst for progress and positive change, heightened their personal values and self-respect, dysfunction in all areas can be diminished, and then genuine nation building strategies on all levels can be crafted, and stand an improved opportunity for success.

Organizations will have an opportunity to display their businesses products and services for 3 days; convey its mission or brand in an engaging setting, and benefit from personal interface with EVE Jamaica attendees. Organizations who partner with the organizers of the EVE Jamaica event will have an opportunity to both survey and collect invaluable customer feedback information that can contribute to new product development, the formulation of public relations and marketing campaigns, or as an opportunity to strengthen customer loyalty.

This celebration of the “feminine force” is poised to become the signature event for women in the region. The organizers of Eve Jamaica welcome the opportunity to collaboratively partner with your organization, as it launches this event in Kingston.

Highlights include the EVE Luncheon which will feature the On the Wings of My Sisters Awards honoring those women from across the Caribbean Diaspora who have made significant contributions to their communities and organizations; and the Women of Champions segment celebrating the mothers of athletes who performed with a spirit of excellence at the 2008 Beijing Olympics; a Gospel Celebration, health screenings, personal coaching sessions, takeaways that can be integrated into daily living, and informational and topical sessions addressing all aspects of women’s lives, such as health and wellness, career planning, personal financial planning, self-care and so much more.
